Making music vinyl
Vinyl’s unstoppable rise and rise continues. Vinyl album sales spiked over 19% in the US in the first half of the year from the same period in 2017, according to Nielsen Music. That means 7.6m vinyl albums shifted compared to just 6.4m one year earlier.
The top selling piece of vinyl so far in 2018? That would be Jack White’s Boarding House Reach, which racked up 37,000 copies, ahead of Kendrick Lamar’s, DAMN (30,000).
White is something of a vinyl hero – the artist opened his Third Man Pressing vinyl music facility in Detroit at the beginning of 2017, with the plant boasting modern pressing machinery rather than the usual refurbed kit.
