Shell gets energy from Sonnen deal
Shell has come onboard German solar energy storage outfit Sonnen. The energy giant’s tech and business innovation unit Shell Ventures has led a successful €60m investment round in the firm which is looking to expand internationally in the US and Australia.
Sonnen is also partnering with Shell's New Energies division in areas that offer synergies between the two companies, including innovative integrated energy propositions, enhanced EV charging solutions and the provision of grid services based on Sonnen's virtual battery pool.
The German firm’s SonnenBatterie household storage system enables homes to cover around 75% of their annual energy requirement with self-produced solar energy.
