The average audience watching game sessions on the Twitch platform at any given time? That would be a whopping 953,000 in the last quarter, according to Streamlabs metrics. And that puts Amazon-owned Twitch way ahead of rival YouTube Gaming on a mere 272,000.

And there’s more evidence that Twitch dominance is growing. Twitch and YouTube Gaming together generated a huge 2.5bn hours of watch time in the first quarter of 2018 – and growth came from Twitch, as YouTube slid 12% while Twitch spiked 21% from 4Q17, according to Newzoo.

What about the phenomenon of  Fortnite? Well, it had over 8.3m hours streamed in the first quarter, making it the top streamed game on Twitch, outdoing both PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and League of Legends.
