Netflix says its 2018-release films have been viewed 850m times to date by more than 120m accounts worldwide. However, subscriber numbers have flattened, with the company adding 5.2m subs in the three months to end–June – the same as for the second quarter last year – though the streamer had forecast growth of 6.2m.
Netflix is currently testing advertising for its other shows between the countdown period between episodes. Some viewers have complained that the video ads are unskippable, though the company maintains audiences can jump out of the previews if they wish. The easiest way is to opt out of trials at the Do Not Test page.
Netflix is reportedly pumping as much as $170m in upcoming action film Six Underground, directed by Michael Bay. Ryan Reynolds is earning around $30 million for the feature.
