UK hails Ola
Indian ride-hailing outfit Ola is rolling out its mobility services in the UK. Initial launch locations include Manchester and South Wales, with the company working with regional authorities to expand its offerings across the country.
Ola, which is currently up and running only in India and Australia, operates in 110 cities and has around 125m users. In Oz, it bowed first in Perth February and currently operates in seven cities, signing more than 40,000 drivers. The firm is reported to be considering launching in both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the near future.
The company says Ola will be the only ride-hailing app in the UK offering passengers the option of private-hire vehicles and black cabs.
On its home turf, Ola recently rolled out its EV initiative and aims to put 10,000 e-rickshaws and electric auto-rickshaws on the road within a year.
