Ikea is building a housing project in Sweden for the elderly and for people with dementia. The initiative is part of the BoKlok concept, developed by Ikea and Skanska, for developing residential communities.

Ikea is working with the Silviahemmet dementia-care foundation on the SilviaBo project using BoKlok prefabricated units with "dementia-friendlyā€¯ layouts so that residents can live independently for longer.

The first SilviaBO homes have been built close to Stockholm.

The BoKlok partnership has already built around 11,000 sustainable homes across Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway.
