Facebook's 'reckless indifference'
Facebook has agreed to stump up $40m to settle allegations by advertisers that it overstated the time users spent watching video on the social network. Plaintiffs in the class action suit claimed average metrics were inflated by between 150% and 900%.
The case now heads to a US District Court which will rule whether the settlement offer, which has been agreed by the plaintiffs, is adequate.
In a filing, plaintiffs pointed to Facebook’s “mentality of reckless indifference toward the accuracy of its metrics”.
