UK-India Tech Hub lights
The UK-India Tech Hub has launched in the up-and-coming Royal Albert Docks business district in east London. The new innovation centre has the backing of VC outfit Pontaq which will develop the hub in partnership with the £1.7bn Royal Albert Docks London project aimed at building a new waterfront commercial community.
The project will provide cross-border support for early stage tech firms between the UK and India, with start-ups receiving funding as well as office space and mentoring.
“British businesses, and those investing in the UK from abroad, have spent the last three years under a cloud of uncertainty surrounding Brexit,” says the VC outfit. “With the launch of the UK India Tech Hub, we are determined to show that Britain remains open for Indian business whatever the outcome of the UK’s negotiations with the EU.”
Pontaq invests primarily in fintech, smart city solutions relating to energy, waste, water and transport, emerging technologies such as IOT, AR/VR, AI/ML and blockchain in series A/pre-series A firms.
Pontaq is the trading name of Anugraha Ventures Limited, a UK-registered venture capital fund specialising in technology transfer between the UK and India.
