Big food goes vertical
Dubai is set to get the world’s largest vertical farm. Construction of the $40m, 130,000-square foot plant will start before the year-end, with the facility aiming to use 99% less water than regular outdoor agricultural locations.
The farm, a jv between agri-tech outfit Crop One Holdings and Emirates Flight Catering, is expected to produce a daily 6,000 pounds of leafy greens destined to land in airport lounges and form part of in-flight food.
