Twizy takes on Asia
Renault Samsung’s Twizy electric vehicle continues to go down a storm in South Korea. And the good news for local enthusiasts is that leading retailer E-Mart is now planning to sell the Twizy in 25 stores across the peninsula.
E-Mart has already deployed EV charging stations at a dozen or so stores and plans to slot chargers into 35 additional outlets during 2019.
Renault Samsung sold 1,500 of the EVs in the market last year and the two-seater accounts for around four-fifths of South Korean electric vehicles.
Around 60% of Twizys are sold in Asia and Renault Samsung last year switched production from Spain to Busan, South Korea. The company is looking to manufacture 5,000 EVs there for sale in Asia this year.
