Renewables can beat solar lulls

Renewables such as wind and solar power could meet half of the UK's electricity demands by 2030, with prices on a level with those for coal, oil and gas. And renewables would still be able to contribute that amount during winter solar lulls, according to the GB’s power transition: Get smart report from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit and New Resource Partners.

The study calls on the government to build a flexible system with support for smart and local energy markets, while also continuing to trade energy with the EU after Brexit.
