VW takes on Tesla
Volkswagen says it is making a strong push into electric cars after finding it hard to give up on diesel for so long. The company has invested €30bn in electromobility and is able to boast a rededicated a plant in Germany, while also building an electric vehicle plant in China.
CEO Herbert Diess told the media some very attractive vehicles will start coming off the production as soon as next year, with the new electric models competitive with current cars in terms of price, performance, range and chargeability.
He added, “in 2020 we will have cars that can do all that Teslas can do, but at half the price.
