Car subscriptions take off

Volvo’s car subscription service has proved so popular that the offering has run out of vehicles. The waiting list for subs-based Volvos now runs into 2019.

The car maker managed to shift one year of allotted XC40 vehicles in just four months. The monthly subs fee of around $600 is all-inclusive, except for taxes and fuel.

Volvo rolled out the subscription-based service under the Care by Volvo banner with the aim of making running a car ‘as easy as having a smartphone’.

Care by Volvo is a 24-month subscription plan, though users can upgrade to a new Volvo anytime after the first 12 months.
