Tick Tock VR
The UK is set to get its first virtual reality game venue when the Hyper Reality Experience opens in Leeds next month. The Yorkshire city will be the first of 10 centres to host the gaming experience, which will be operated by Tick Tock Unlock.
Each event at the Trinity Leeds shopping centre will host a maximum of eight players paying £15 per head, with participants having just 15 minutes to complete their VR missions. The Hyper Reality Experience merges virtual reality technology with physical sets and stage effects, and players are likely to feel the heat from a virtual fire or the draft from a mineshaft, making it difficult ‘to distinguish reality from virtual reality’.
“Our first Hyper Reality Experience centre has been optimised for a retail environment, but future sites will also include larger, out-of-town retail centres and theme parks and we are in talks with partners about our next locations,” says former JP Morgan exec Ali Khan, now a director at Tick Tock Unlock.
The company already runs real-life escape games designed for groups of up to six players in Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow and Manchester.
