Which London borough has the highest start-up success rate? Forget Hackney, because that would be Havering to the north-east of the capital. That’s where 91.5% of start-ups make it through their first year still standing, according to a study completed by recruitment firm Talentful.
And it’s the outer boroughs that have the edge here as Hillingdon, Redbridge and Merton take the next three success spots. City neighbour Tower Hamlets grabs tenth place – ahead of the City itself – while fintech hub Southwark is 14th. And Hackney? London’s cool district can only manage 21st.
There are other metrics to consider. Hillingdon has the lowest-cost desk space at a mere £175 per month, while a corner in the City will set you back a pricey £465, with Hackney not far behind on £407. Richmond-on-Thames and Redbridge can boast the fastest broadband speeds. The City ranks highest for its graduate workforce rating, with around 80% of employees toting a degree.
