UK retail giant Tesco is rolling out a one-hour delivery service in central London under the Tesco Now banner. Via the dedicated Tesco Now app, shoppers will be able to purchase up to 20 items from a range of 1,000 products.
Now doesn’t come cheap, of course – the one-hour delivery service comes in at £7.99 a pop, while a two-hour option is available for £5.99. And central London means Zone 1, with orders transported by trusty old mopeds (no drones in sight).
“From forgotten essentials to that crucial final ingredient, Tesco Now can get them to our customers' door within the hour,” the company says.
The physical delivery service will be provided by start-up Quiqup which says it is ‘on a mission to make on-demand logistics accessible and affordable for everyone’. The company recently raised £20 million and is looking to expand beyond the UK capital. It also offers a B2B service Quiqdash that enables small retail outfits to order goods at short notice.
