Sweden will ban the sale of new diesel or petrol engine cars as soon as 2030. The brings the country in line with neighbours Denmark and Iceland, though electric vehicle loving Norway is more aggressive, with the internal combustion engine off the agenda as soon as 2025.

Norway has just announced that it now has 200,000 EVs on its roads. The Nissan Leaf accounts for one quarter of those vehicles while the BMW i3 and Tesla Model S each have one tenth. EV sales spiked 40% in 2018 Norway, and one in three vehicles sold was zero-emission.

The Nissan Leaf is also the biggest selling EV across Europe.
