Storedot has grabbed top spot in the latest Disrupt 100 rankings. What’s so disruptive about the Israeli start-up? That would be FlashBattery, its entirely new lithium ion battery structure for dramatically reducing device charging times. “This unique technology not only has the potential to become the ultimate fast-charging standard in mobile devices, but also in electric power tools, toys, home appliances and others,” says Disrupt 100 compiler Tällt Ventures.
Ranking second is UK-based machine learning firm Graphcore, whose tech cuts the cost of improving AI, helps to incorporate solutions in low-power devices, and speeds up the process bringing deep learning applications to market. And in third is Grail, which aims to detect cancer before any symptoms appear – the company’s early investors include include Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and genetic analysts Illumina.
