Sainsbury's rolls out e-bike deliveries

Sainsbury's is running the UK's first grocery delivery service via electric cargo bike in south London. The five-strong fleet of bicycles will operate from the company’s Streatham Common store delivering up to 100 daily orders to customers ordering online.

The purpose-built bikes are being provided by e-cargobikes.com which specialises in enabling last-mile delivery services. The company says the vehicles are fast, reliable, and cost almost nothing to run, increasing delivered-goods margins.

“Our e-cargobike platform can transform client’s next-day online offer into a future-proof same hour service in one single simple step,” says cargobikes.com
