Smart speakers drive streaming subs
Listening to music is the most popular feature among smart speaker owners, with three-quarters using the kit for audio entertainment. Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot are the most popular speakers, ahead of offerings from Google and Apple, according to AudienceNet.
Over 40% of smart speaker homes use on-demand streaming services more than they did prior to acquiring their device. In addition, purchasing a smart speaker was the impetus for 37% to start paying for a subscription streaming service.
In addition, half of smart speaker owners listen to more music than they did before installing the device. Some 43% report increasing the number of music playlists they tune in to, and around 40% have discovered new music.
