Hydrogen gets trucking
US-based Nikola Motor is planning to roll out its hydrogen-electric truck in Europe. The company is looking to begin tests in Norway, likely in 2020, with production set for 2022-23.
Nikola says it is in the planning stages of identifying the location for a European manufacturing facility. The company already works with Nel Hydrogen in Oslo to develop a hydrogen network for its US operations.
Nikola is looking to roll out more than 700 hydrogen stations across the US and Canada, with each site able to produce 2,000 to 8,000 kgs of hydrogen per day. European stations are scheduled to come online around 2022 and are projected to cover most of the European market by 2030.
