Now Michelin is deploying Einride’s self-driving, electric T-Pod truck at its French tyre-making plant in Clermont-Ferrand, France.

Starting next year, the company will use the cab-less vehicle to transport goods within a Michelin site before running it on a public road linking two Michelin locations.

The Einride T-Pod can carry up to 16 tonnes of freight and has a range of 200kms on a full charge.

Transport specialist DB Schenker last month began using the truck on a public road between a Swedish warehouse and terminal following approval from the authorities.
