Mastercard makes music

Mastercard makes music

Mastercard has rolled out a sonic brand identity. The ‘transaction sound’, which will ring out across platforms when users pay with plastic, has been developed with musicians, artists, and agencies, with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda one of the parties involved.

The company calls the sonic brand a ‘distinct and memorable melody’. There are adaptations across genres and cultures, and varying instruments and tempos to deliver the melody in several styles, including operatic, cinematic and ‘playful’.

Mastercard adds, “with voice shopping set to hit $40 billion by 2022, audio identities not only connect brands with consumers on a new dimension, they are tools enabling consumers to shop, live, and pay in an increasingly digital and mobile world.”
