Marathon Artists is prepping the second year of its LABs music-tech start-up accelerator programme, due to kick off next month. Marathon, which runs a record label, music management firm and publishing company, has selected a half-dozen entrepreneurial outfits for the new intake, including firms looking to innovate around music videos, music discovery and Big Data.
Among those looking for acceleration are video monetisation firm InPlayer, up-and-coming talent spotter Dummy and machine-based discovery start-up Musimap.
Marathon Artists launched its accelerator programme early last year together with media-tech investment firm Sushi Venture Partners. Marathon says the idea for launching the initiative came from the fact that whenever it met someone able to promote or monetise its artists, it would look into working with them.
