India's problem with fake

Many Indian consumers are so new to social media they have no clue about fake content, according to Vishvas News, Facebook’s fact-checking contractor. The company’s manager, Pallavi Mishra, tells Bloomberg that they share stories indiscriminately: “Being the first to share things in their circles gave them a rush,” she explains.

And monitoring this kind of content is a new thing. Vishvas only began fact-checking Hindi Facebook posts in December, while contractors in Punjabi and Urdu began around one month back.
