Brexit halts UK car production

Jaguar Land Rover is putting a stop to UK production for one week due to possible disruption from Brexit. The automaker will halt work at its manufacturing plants from 8 April for five days, just after the UK is scheduled to quit the EU.

JLR recently announced 4,500 job losses in order to make savings of £2.5bn.

Toyota has already said that a no-deal Brexit could lead to a UK production stoppage, while BMW is bringing forward a plan to halt manufacture in the market for maintenance work to coincide with Brexit at end-March.
