Netflix is dominating Internet traffic. Almost 60% of downstream traffic is video, and Netflix is the biggest video streamer in the Americas, the second-biggest in EMEA, and ranks third in Asia Pacific.
In fact, Netflix accounts for more than one-quarter of all global video streaming traffic, a few percentage points ahead of YouTube, according to Sandvine.
If Netflix’s leadership seems surprising, Sandvine points out that not all video streaming services are equal. The bandwidth for a Netflix movie is different than that for a YouTube video.
