What became of German innovation?
Just one-third of German employees think their working environment promotes innovation, compared to 45% among their US counterparts and an impressive 54% of Chinese employees. And only 14% of Germans believe they have received the resources from their firms to implement new projects, according to research from Continental.
Close to 30% of Chinese employees say that they have the opportunity to spend part of their working time on innovation projects. While almost one in two companies in China support their employees in developing ideas by providing financial resources or technology.
“The results are worrying,” says Dr Ariane Reinhart, board member for HR at Continental. “Without a strong innovation culture, German companies are at risk of losing ground against international companies. Digital transformation further increases the pressure to act.”
