Fiat goes self-driving

Fiat Chrysler has come onboard the BMW-Intel alliance to develop so-called robotaxis that will be called up via smartphones and paid for by the minute. Fiat Chrysler, which is bringing additional engineering expertise to the venture, says it is aiming to put autonomous cars into production by 2021.

Automotive suppliers Delphi Automotive and Continental have also joined the BMW-Intel initiative.
