Leading US electric scooter service Lime is skipping two wheels in Seattle and launching a fleet of 500 compact electric cars. Lime – backed by Alphabet and Uber – will lean on Fiat Chrysler for the vehicles and the cars will free float inside their designated service areas.

Lime already operates 3,000 regular bicycles in Seattle as well as a fleet of pedal electric bikes, which are operated under the Lime-E banner. The company launched a fleet of dock-free electric scooters in Paris during the summer as part of a European rollout – the company now also boasts e-scooters in Lisbon and Prague.
