The smart home is making domestic inroads but consumers have major worries about this invasive technology. Close to 90% have concerns about the loss of personal data and contact information, while more than three-quarters feel the same way about unauthorised access to devices, according to new research from CUJO AI.

In addition, 75% of respondents say they are highly worried about the loss of financial data.

“Home users are becoming more aware of the risks online,” the report says. “They know that knowledge is a weapon, and they want to get some ammunition against cyber threats.”

e-Overview: While the technology is appealing the many, vendors have a lot of work to do convince the majority of consumers that smart to open up their homes to yet more risk.
