Low-risk voice kit
The vast majority of Amazon Alexa owners regularly lean on their voice-enabled kit to play music and ask simple questions, but only around one-third use it to control smart home devices or for shopping, according to research conducted by Field Agent. A mere 17% add products to their shopping baskets via Alexa, while just 8% repurchase products, or shop for goods they haven’t bought before.
And those using the devices to make purchases tend to go for low-risk items like music, household products, pet and baby supplies. Two-thirds have never used Alexa for a purchase due to security concerns, fears of accidental purchases by children and the inability to see items or compare prices.
If Amazon can tackle security, build child-safe features, and show off Alexa’s capabilities, users are likely to turn in number to voice-controlled shopping, says the study.
