Over 200 different UK consumer products have shrunk in size since the Brexit vote, according to Office for National Statistics. Shrinkflation – where packages are made smaller, but sold at the same price – has impacted confectionery items such as Maltesers and M&Ms, as well as the likes of washing-up liquid, nappies, bread and cereals.

The shrinkflation phenomenon accelerated after the EU referendum, when the fall in the value of the pound pushed up the cost of imported goods.
