BMW and Daimler are merging their mobility activities and plan to expand their existing on-demand mobility offerings around car sharing, ridehailing, parking, charging and multimodality.
The new, merged unit will promote electromobility, offering electric car sharing vehicles, as well as improved charging and parking options. The partners are promising access to the world’s largest network of public charging stations with more than 143,000 charging points globally.
There will also be seamless connectivity between different mobility offerings such as moovel (Daimler) and ReachNow (BMW). The former recently partnered with the Karlsruhe Transport Authority to offer on-demand ridesharing services in the German city, with the KVV.mobil facilitating pooled transport. moovel says 1,000 passengers used the service during the recent IT-Trans trade fair in Karlsruhe.
