Winehouse hologram on tour
Amy Winehouse is set to go on tour next year as a hologram performer. The virtual singer, who died in 2011, will be backed by a live band and singers. Revenues raised will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a UK organisation working with young people with drug and alcohol abuse issues.
“Amy was a powerhouse in every sense of the word,” says Brian Becker, CEO of tour provider BASE Hologram, formerly head of Clear Channel Entertainment (now Live Nation). “She played by her own rules, pioneered her own sense of style of music and because of that we know she is the perfect person to headline this type of project.”
BASE has already developed tours for Roy Orbison, which kicked off last month, and for Maria Callas. The Amy Winehouse production will go on the road in 2019.
