Zero-touch consumption is coming your way. The demand is there – half of virtual assistant users want to automate the home restocking of generic items, according to the Ten Hot Consumer Trends 2019 report from Ericsson Labs.

And over half want machines to keep track of utility bills and pay them when they are due, 47% would like a virtual assistant to handle all their finances.

“Some of this household automation might seem a bit alien, as one considers that humans are of course still the ultimate beneficiaries,” says Ericsson Labs. “But zero-touch consumption without human intervention might happen sooner than we think. In fact, seven in 10 current virtual assistant users think these types of automated consumption will be commonplace in only three years' time.”
