The UK has set a July 2019 start date for smart home charge points. The Department for Transport has specified that all government-subsidised chargers must use smart technology from that point as part of its Road to Zero strategy.
Smart charging solutions aim to encourage off-peak electric car charging while easing pressure on the power grid.
In the last four years, the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme has provided more than 60,000 grants for install chargers, it added. The initiative will run until March 2020, or when the 30,000 installations mark is hit in 2019/20.
