Milton Keynes is home to the world’s first commercial robot delivery service. Tech outfit Starship Technologies has joined forces with the Co-op to deliver groceries to its customers in the town.

Shoppers make purchases through an app and the goods are directly delivered from stores. It takes five to 30 minutes for the shipment to arrive and the robots’ journey can be monitored on a smartphone.

Starship robots are advanced devices able to carry items within a two-mile radius. They boast onboard kit such as ultrasonic sensors, cameras, radar and GPS.

The company says its robots have notched up 125,000 test miles across 20 countries in the last four years.
