Google has unveiled its global Google AI Impact Challenge and is calling on non-profits, academics and social enterprises to submit proposals on using artificial intelligence to help address social, humanitarian and environmental issues.

The effort is part of a new programme tagged AI for Social Good. It’s all about applying core Google research and engineering to projects with positive societal impact, including partnering with experts.

Under the Google AI Impact Challenge, selected parties will get customised support such as coaching from Google’s AI team, Google.org grant funding from a $25m pool, plus credit and consulting from Google Cloud.
