Volvo has rolled out a subscription-based service for its XC40 car. Customers can make flat monthly payments of either £629 or £779 – depending on the model – for the SUV, fees that cover insurance, servicing and maintenance for two years when they can then exchange it.
Volvo says the idea behind Care by Volvo is to make running a car ‘as easy as having a smartphone’. Also onboard here is a concierge package which offers services such as sending directions to the car’s navigation system, booking a restaurant or confirming a hotel reservation via the car’s equipment.
The car maker says this is just the start for Care by Volvo. “Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing new features, like having parcels delivered to your Volvo, and more,” it explains.
GM’s Cadillac launched a subscription service in January in the US that gave customers vehicles for a much heftier $1,500 per month.
