The UK Advertising Association has launched its A Great Advert For Britain campaign celebrating the role of non-national workers in the ad industry sector as well as warning of the threat of Brexit. The campaign, focusing on ‘the immense contribution of international talent to the UK' is part of a broader initiative by the AA which has partnered with LinkedIn on a new study, Advertising Pays: World Class Talent, World Class Advertising, which highlights the importance of a diverse international workforce for the country’s ad and marketing industry.

The report finds that the proportion of the current London advertising and marketing workforce in London that has migrated to the UK capital from abroad in the last 12 months is three times higher than for New York; and is also higher than for Paris and Amsterdam. More than one-third of this talent comes from the EU, with many others arriving from the US and Australia. In addition, the UK is the top source of international advertising and marketing talent for New York, Paris and Amsterdam.

“In London, you get the world,” says Tom Knox, chairman of MullenLowe London. “The number-one reason clients give for choosing a London agency is that this city is a magnet for global talent.”

“We run many international campaigns from London,” says Cilla Snowball, chief executive of AMV BBDO. “London is a key creative hub and attractive to clients and new business prospects. Our international reach is fundamental to our commercial success.”
