Retail giant Lidl has joined German accelerator Retailtech Hub which helps develop links between local start-ups and corporates. Lidl says the programme will give entrepreneurs the opportunity to test their concepts in its logistics network and stores, while giving it the chance to identify and deploy new technologies.
Retailtech Hub, launched by media retail chain MediaMarktSaturn, is based in Munich and offers 12-week accelerator programmes with access to retail brands. In the current intake are the Store2Be online market for retail space, theft prevention firm Rapitag and retail insights outfit Streetspotr.
In the UK in September, Publicis Drugstore announced a tie-up with Plexal to promote deeper collaboration between larger enterprises and the start-up community at the latter’s hub at Here East in East London.
