A large majority of UK consumers believe online ticket-touting is a big issue with music fans, while 80% think that leading secondary ticketing services such as GetMeIn, Seatwave, StubHub and Viagogo are ripping off fans with high prices –and many reckon these vendors are damaging the British music industry, according to the Ticked Off report from FanFair Alliance.

Most think it’s difficult to distinguish between primary and secondary resellers, especially as they are using the same gateway to access both types of services, in the shape of Google. The search engine is the first place they head to when on the lookout for tickets and secondary platforms are benefiting from this channel due to the strong brand recognition of the ‘big four’ services.

Leading primary service Ticketmaster boasts the strongest brand but secondary outlets like Viagogo and StubHub have higher degrees of awareness than other leading primary services, most likely because of their use of Google paid search advertising.
