When the weather meets the IoT
IBM has joined forces with The Weather Company to integrate real-time weather insights into business to improve performance and decision-making. The two companies say combining weather information with traditional business data and rich data from an array of Internet of Things-enabled systems and devices will ‘fundamentally transform enterprise decision-making’.
As part of the tie-up, TWC and its WSI B2B unit will shift its weather data services platform to the IBM Cloud and integrate its data with IBM analytics and cloud services. Once integrated with enterprise processes, weather data can be combined with data from supply chains, customer buying patterns and other sources to create more valuable insights, IBM and TWC say.
