Here comes Live Music 2.0
Social media is the new word of mouth for music, and for people 35 and younger, the social channel is the most likely way they have heard about a live music event. So, while half of concertgoers say they learned about their last concert or festival via WOM, the shift toward the influence of social is inevitable, argues GroupM ESP in its New Music Model for Brands study.
We are talking Live Music 2.0 here for artists, fans and brands, all thanks to technology. Over half of concertgoers are using their mobile devices to look up details about the concert, while close to 60% say they would pay extra for an LED bracelet which lights up in sync with the music. And half would pay extra for an app allowing them to request a song for an artist to play live.
