Open Arsenal

Arsenal might be unable to win crucial football matches but everyone acknowledges that the Gunners aren’t short of silky skills. And the team can now boast that it’s the first in the Premier League to roll out its capabilities on Alexa with the Arsenal Skill feature that enables fans to access pre-game build-ups, live commentary and real-time match metrics, as well as post-match analysis, via links to the club’s digital channels.

And fans’ conversation with Arsenal Alexa begins not with a whistle. But with the words ‘Alexa, open Arsenal’.

The idea behind the Alexa skills platform is offer capabilities that enable consumers to verbally interact with devices in what Amazon believes is a more more intuitive way. And skills are simply apps built by third-party developers, enabling Alexa to deliver additional vice-activated features, as is the case with Arsenal.

Other big names coming to the skills game include Mercedes-Benz which has just launched its Mercedes Me Alexa skill in the US. Vehicle owners signed up to Mbrace, the car maker’s in-vehicle gear for entertainment and navigation, can use Me to do things such as unlock doors, fire up the engine and deliver route instructions, all via natural voice commands.
