Brands on Film: Working the brand-film opportunity
Suddenly, all kinds of brands seem to want to get involved in making a cinematic reel or two. Absolut teamed up with Spike Jonze to shoot an indie film. Relentless featured extreme sports types in Lives Of The Artists. Both LG and Honda have come up with crowdsourced films. While McDonald’s has been broadcasting quirky footage in Scandinavia.
But there’s a skill to communicating with the moving image, and participants really need to know what’s what:
• Is there a role for all brands in film?
• How can filmmakers hook up with brands to shoot film together?
• Should brands be making short drama? Documentaries? Features?
• How is the brand message integrated into the medium?
• What can marketers learn from filmmakers about compelling narrative?
• How can brands leverage cinematic releases to communicate with consumers?
To address all these issues, we’ve recruited a gang of practitioners to come along to our event at London’s Brick Lane on 21st October - smack in the middle of the London Film Festival – to talk Brands On Film. Our speakers will make the case for brand-film collaborations, showcase their filmic successes, and pretty much deliver the director's cut in the art of films and marketing.
Plus, Brands On Film will feature a pitch from a seasoned filmmaker who will be looking for feedback from our presenters into just how he can integrate brands into his next feature.
And, of course, our panel of movers and shakers will engage in a healthy dose of meaningful conversation with each other and the audience. All of which means that attendees of brand-e’s Brands On Film should be left in doubt as to what it takes to make like (branded) Hollywood.
