UK newspaper brands reached 22.4 million people on smartphones in January, corresponding to almost 80% of the market’s total smartphone audience. They also reached 9.1 million unique visitors on tablets, or 44% of the total tablet audience. Fusing mobile data with PC, newspaper brands were able to boast a total digital reach of 37.1 million, according to metrics from Mobile Metrix.

The average newspaper app user spent a total of 230 minutes reading on a smartphone - averaged across MailOnline, Guardian, Sun, Mirror and Times - over the course of the month and 238 minutes were spent reading on an iPad app. This is longer than the average BBC app user who spent 144 and 118 minutes on a smartphone and iPad app, respectively.
