mobile app security

Hundreds of large organisations developing mobile apps, including some from the banking, retail and public sectors, are failing to check how secure their apps are before they hand them over to consumers to use. A Ponemon Institute survey finds that two-fifths of companies do not scan their apps for security vulnerabilities before releasing them, and that the average company tests less than half of the mobile apps it builds, while one-third don’t test their apps at all.

In addition, researchers found found that two-thirds of large organisations allow employees to download unverified apps to the work devices used to access confidential customer and business data.
