If you’re going to go big on social networking, then only four socials really count – Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and WeChat, according to L2 in its new Social Platforms Report, which writes off as losers both Vine and the mighty Google’s Google+, while the likes of Twitter, Tumblr, Sina Weibo and Pinterest are simply past their best.
So, it’s time to dump social’s has-beens and never-will-bes. A social media shakeout is looming as clear winners and losers begin to emerge, says L2. “Brands on average are present on 7.5 social platforms. As the cost of social increases and budgets remain constrained, this is unsustainable and brands will be forced to pick their partners.”
